W- Well, the buffet is only open 'til 9am, so we gotta hurry if we want to grab a lot of food.

[ So putting it off then. Right. Nonon just looks suspiciously at Athena, wondering just what she has to tell her. But the smell of syrup is too strong... ]

Fine. But one trip to the buffet then you're telling me whatever it is you've got to tell me.

[ She gets up from her seat, too. ]

But don't get your hopes up. It's not an exciting story.

I'll still hear it either way.

[ But that does hamper her spirits just a little. Or at least puts her in a little less agitated state. And so she's going to lead the charge, as a conductor should, stepping to the front of the line for the waffle iron, taking one for herself ignoring the complaints of someone else. She's really the worst.

But it's being topped with a giant mountain of whipped cream, cherries, strawberries, syrup and chocolate sauce. Just the sort of thing that can't even be a little healthy. ]

[ Athena has no problem with what Nonon gets. It's why she invited her to this place, after all. Breakfast sweets!

Meanwhile, Athena's plate has a couple of croissants, crepe, and a ton of fruits. A ton of fruits. Oranges, strawberries, bananas, mangoes, avocados, kiwi... she likes fruits a lot. ]

So, anyway... I told you why I became a lawyer, right? How much did I tell you, again?

[ Nonon eyes some of the fruits she missed, but generally looks pretty satisfied with Athena's choices. ...As if anyone asked Nonon how she felt about someone else's food?? ]

Your mother was murdered. You helped that guy get free who was accused of killing her, but he didn't do it. Blackgill, or something.

[ She remembers most of it. ]

[ she nods, acknowledging that nonon's recalling is mostly correct. ]

Blackquill.

And he was my best friend then, you know? So.... So this happening now, it's kind of like a repeat of the past. [ she angrily shoves a strawberry in her mouth. ] it's so painful.

It must be even more so for you...

[ She's seen Blackquill before, but never actually spoken to him. But she understands where Athena is coming from, surprisingly. ]

She's the strongest person I've ever met. She can level this whole colony if she wanted to. Nothing is going to happen to her. [ Nonon just sighs, looking sadly at her amazing looking breakfast. ] But she's also an idiot who thinks she has to do the right thing even when it hurts herself.

... she didn't really kill somebody, did she?

[ This is the worst possible thing to talk about over delicious breakfast. ]

Did she ever tell you who Nui Harime is?

[ She doesn't answer the question, instead asking her own, while digging into her waffle before she loses her own appetite. ]

She did tell me.

[ Is that it? ]

Then you know that she killed Ryuko's father. ...and Satsuki-sama's too.

[ Which means that no matter what, Nonon is on Ryuko's side here. ]

Then Ryuko's not safe. You're not safe.

... If Nui did die, then she'll just be recoded.

Ryuko is fine, she has her kamui and her scissor blade.

[ Nonon just motions at her own uniform. ]

I have my goku uniform too. I can take her if I need to. But I haven't seen her at all since the waterpark. Which makes me wonder if Ryuko killed anyone at all, or if it's all a lie from CERES..

[ The only response Athena gives isn't verbal. Her eyes widen at the possibility of it being a lie. And she wants to find out. ]

I don't trust them. Not with everything I've heard what went down on that little tour.

[ She's been keeping abreast of it, despite not seeming like it. She has her friends to keep her informed. ]

I used to trust them... But now, I'll just believe in my friends.

I suppose I should apologise for even doubting you and Ryuko regarding Mosley and Ms. Recreare's motives.

[shikisha]

[ Nonon just takes a big bite, which is really just mostly whipped cream, waving her hand a little. ]

It's fine, I don't blame you. But I have troubles trusting a company like CERES. It reminds me too much of the Kiryuin Conglomerate.

Shouldn't we be able to pay bail or something? do they even try people in a court here?

I'll try to pander to Mr. Mosley.

But... there really is no trial system here. As much as I want to defend Ryuko, there's nothing I can do that's within legal means.

That's right, you two are practically friends now aren't you?

[ She doesn't mean to sound snippy but it's hard not to when it concerns CERES now. ]

Then I'll just take matters into my own hands if I have to.

It's not that we're friends, [ but she does laugh at that. ] It's called networking.

[ Nonon wishes she could laugh. She just rolls her eyes a little. ]

We can always make him see things our way if push comes to shove.
