I'm just as shocked as you are! Obviously something fucked up is happening here, but you can't just go and swing your sword at the first person you see, that's not how things work!
[ Now she's almost being a blockhead on purpose. It's not like she would really kill anybody, but there is a lot of pent up energy that she might as well.
Arms crossed and tapping her foot, she radiates a more closed off body language than she did at the pool. ]
Because you may be stupid, but you're not that stupid!
[ She means Ryuko would never actually go and kill someone. She knows Ryuko can get upset, but when she's not going berserk, there's no way Ryuko would kill someone.
But that body language isn't missed by Nonon, and... it kind of hurts, making her emulate the same kind of thing. ]
Showing up at the building and just yelling out that you challenge the killer isn't going to work here like it did at Honnouji.
[ Nonon... almost gets up. Her feet move out from her.. but she stays seated, even if she looks like she could jump up. ]
What do you think you're going to do? Let the police handle it!
[ And then she's standing up, going to the door to the laundry, leaning against the doorframe. If she wants to get out, or just wants privacy she's not getting it. ]
[ Just when she was about to start unbuttoning her pajamas, Nonon finds a way to push different buttons within Ryuko. Flustered, she turns back at her, refusing to admit that she's actually making sense. ]
Can you shut up for a minute?! Just-- ughh!!!
[ She pushes past Nonon, completely forgetting about Senketsu and storming to the kitchen now. Clearly she's not thinking at all here. ]
[ Nonon bites her lip, watching Ryuko failing even to get her pajamas off, and manages not to bark at her when she pushes Nonon out of the way. But it's not like she was trying to stop her.
Though she does shut up for a minute, or even five, as long as Ryuko needs to calm down. As much fun as it usually is to rile her up, now is not the time. So she just follows to the kitchen, hoping on the counter, watching Ryuko, hopefully letting her calm down. ]
[ Ryuko is not calming down because Nonon is still following her!! While she's in the kitchen, Ryuko opens the fridge to look inside, and closes it again as if she opened it for no reason. At the sink, she lays out a bowl and plate as if she's preparing food, but again... she isn't! She even opens the fridge once more just for good measure, but again... she clearly has no idea what she's doing. At all.
To be stared at by Nonon like that is somehow harder to deal with. The silence and her hot blood pressure takes her back to the spa...
[ Yeah this isn't working. Nonon barely even knows what to say to her at this point, pretty certain that anything she asks is going to get Ryuko to blow up on her. Which is less fun when it's genuine anger. ]
...I have a friend who is a detective. I can call her, see what she thinks.
[ Nonon speaks up after a little while, having chosen her words carefully there. ]
There's still some cereal left in the box. [ That one is less carefully worded. Hopefully Ryuko likes the kind of cereal with sugary marshmallows.
But really, Nonon tries not to stare, but what else can she do. Things are awkward between them but she doesn't want to bring that up, not now. ]
[ When Nonon asks her that question, Ryuko stops chewing for a second. She considers answering her, but then she says the thing about the wall, and is once again right about something.
The way Nonon looks at her when she makes that comment, Ryuko can't help but wonder if the wall is a metaphor for Nonon. Ryuko may be a hot head and act rashly, but it doesn't mean she never feels guilty about her actions. If she's being a jerk to Nonon, it's only because she... cares. On a different level than a few weeks back when they first danced.
And maybe that's why she's pissed.
But she does move around the counter to Nonon's side, and offers her some cereal from the box, too. A peace offering. As far as apologies go, it's not the best one, but she means it. Her soft expression gives her away, despite her still furrowed brows. ]
[ Things have obviously changed between them, but neither seems to want to be the one to bring it up. It pisses Nonon off a little, that somehow she thinks that Ryuko might be trying to forget they held hands when it definitely happened. But...there is still the matter of worrying about Satsuki's opinion on this... and the fact that Nonon refuses to give in first.
...But she wants Ryuko to like her. More than anything lately she's been thinking about that. About how she she could get it out of her, but then as soon as she's in front of Ryuko again she forgets everything she was going to say. ]
...It was messed up, taking a video while the guys body was just there in the background. [ She pipes up reaching in to the box, which puts her close to Ryuko again, any smell from Nonon's floral shampoo likely to end up in her face. ] That's not even how things are supposed to work in a company. If the CEO dies usually the board has to have a meeting to announce a candidate and then make sure the stock holders get a vote.
[ Nonon sounds like she knows what she's talking about here. ]
It was too fast. It's like she was waiting for this opportunity.
[ Nonon almost succeeded in getting it out of her if she continued arguing. What terrible people.
Ryuko wants to bring up how Satsuki publicly impaled a certain CEO, however she is probably a sensitive subject for the both of them right now. Not when tensions are already sky-high. Not when... she's trying to ignore her scent. Dammit. ]
I don't fully trust her either. Think they're the ones who did it?
[ Getting Ryuko to admit she likes her by screaming at each other is really the least romantic way to confess, and Nonon cares about romantic stuff! Even if she knows how dumb it is to like Ryuko and expect romance.
And killing Ragyo was different. Ragyo was literally planning to kill the planet... maybe Julius was that bad but it doesn't feel like that. He was killed and no one was taking credit, that's different. ]
I don't know. She benefits too much. They know about us here though. They know about the things we've all done, and that just makes us me feel like we're animals trapped in a cage.
[ With Ryuko so close, Nonon wishes the other girl would just move between Nonon's legs, and lean back so Nonon could lean forward and rest against her... but that's not something she can do, not right now. ]
Yeah... they probably know about me, too. Long before I knew it.
[ Her being a Life Fiber monster, that is. Something she has yet to accept about herself, since she never got the chance to fight Ragyo and learn that her power is a key to saving humanity. It's a part of her that always makes her feel separated from her friends in Cerealia. The hellion in human skin, as Gundam called her.
She tries not to let that fact bother her as she watches Nonon snack. ]
And they had to have known about the monster that Harime is, and still brought her here. They either don't care that she might kill people here, or they have really have no control here. I guess from that whole Santa situation it's probably the latter...
[ Nonon doesn't care about Ryuko being what she is. She's Satsuki's sister, she's saved Nonon and they've fought side by side now. It would be a waste of time worrying about what's inside of the other girl.
She doesn't realize she's being watched though, reaching in for a few more marshmallows (she obviously only wants those pieces) and meeting Ryuko's eyes for a second before looking away hurriedly. ]
...It's a good thing you're out a phone for now then.
Like that makes a difference. [ Ryuko always prefers to tell something to a person's face rather than via phonecall. Though Nonon probably meant it's a good thing that Ryuko has no more phones to throw at things.
When their eyes briefly meet again, Ryuko makes another impulse choice. They're dancing around something they're both possibly aware of, so she pulls the cereal box away and out of Nonon's reach, and straight out asks her: ]
This Friday, we're gonna do something I like for once.
[ Okay it's not so much a question, really, but possibly a very awkward proposition for a date. Maybe. She won't label it in any case. What is romance. ]
[ Nonon was about to drop in a handful of the boring unflavored pieces of cereal back into the box when she sees it pulled away. She makes a face up at Ryuko only to hear that about a date. Well, she's pretty sure it's a date. It's a date right? What else could it be?
Dammit, why is her pulse racing so fast? She just stuffs the handful of marshmallow-less pieces into her mouth, trying to calm herself down. She swallows and puts on a smile, smug slightly, but honestly happy. ]
...So a night of batting cages and arcades? [ That's what delinquents do, right? ] Wait, batting cages could actually be pretty fun.
[ Maybe she knows, maybe she doesn't. But she is happy about Ryuko saying they should do something together. Even if all she was saying they should go beat people up she could probably be down for it. ]
I might be a rich girl, but I have varied tastes. I bet you didn't know that I love WcDonald's apple pies. Somehow they created the best dessert in the world without even knowing it.
[ She's saying it's okay to take her there or whatever the hell stands in for it here, that she wouldn't judge Ryuko. ]
...You want me to ride with you? [ Okay, that's not something she expected. She's never been on a motorcycle before. But the idea of it makes her feel...fluttery. She flushes, but nods a few times. ] I won't.
[ That's... kind of cute about the apple pies. Ryuko can definitely relate to the love of fast food. ] Well, we'll grab some of this "best dessert in the world", too.
[ Crap, this is a date... ]
I-It ain't what you think, though. We're still gonna talk about CERES, I just wanted to do it somewhere in my own comfort zone!
[ All they do is argue which results in some kind of physical abuse half the time... and then ending up on the news. Having fun "together", huh? She's surprised to hear Nonon say it out loud. ]
Probably not if you just talk about CERES the whole time. But I do know how to have fun.
[ Nonon has confidence to spare. As mildly hurtful as that simple question might have been, Nonon brushes it off. Even if they argue, they have good times too, unless Ryuko forgets how they danced, how they beat that monster together, how they won against Kuzuryuu, and holding hands... All the arguing didn't matter compared to how Nonon had felt just sitting with Ryuko, holding her hand.
Look, you don't choose who you like, so Nonon isn't second guessing herself anymore. She could say something more, about how she feels about the other girl, but for the moment she can't say it aloud. ]
Friday. Are you picking me up from here or from the opera house?
